IBM released Connections Pack 188.8.131.52 earlier this week. With this new release, IBM added new features and improvements:
- Full upgrade path
- New Sanity monitoring service
- Elasticsearch performance enhancements
- Support for changing the IBM Cloud private user credentials
- MongoDB now uses Intermediate CA for internal communication

IBM published a preview release of the Visual Update 1 for IBM Connections (also known as Project Periscope) end of last year. Since then it’s possible to enable the preview in your IBM Cloud Organisation using the App Catalog.

Some weeks ago IBM released Connections Customizer (on-premises) as part of the Component Pack 220.127.116.11. In this post, I would like to describe how to deploy, configure and use it.
First of all, you need to install Connections Customizer (or the whole Component Pack) by following this documentation. This will include the prerequisites like installing IBM Cloud private, configuring persistent storage as well as the installation process itself. With ComponentPack 18.104.22.168 IBM changed the Docker driver from overlay to devicemapper. Which is a good thing because there were some issues before (more information). But please be aware that you shouldn’t use the default settings in a production environment!
